Terrific Mobile Apps For Idle Periods Of Creativity

Terrific Mobile Apps For Idle Periods Of Creativity
The mobile phone can be either a productivity tool or a distraction depending on who you ask.

Here, we are going to look at how to fill those little pockets of idle time with creative activities. All three of these applications are available for both Apple and Android phones.

idea generator mobile appThe first app, named “Idea Generator”, has a large circular button that looks like it will play a video. Instead of playing a video it shows a random picture in the top half of the screen and a random word at the bottom.

This combination of a random image and word appears only for a second or two, then moves on to the next one.

The concept is that with an association can be made between them. It can become a prompt for a new idea.

One such example is when a clown is ahown in the top half of the screen and the bottom half of the screen has the word “sport”.

If the goal is fundraising for charity, then a possible combination of these two may result in several clowns playing soccer. In this case, proceeds would be donated to a predetermined charity.

Another idea generation tool, called “A+ Writing Prompts”, has many capabilities built into it. One of the tools includes scene descriptions.

The app indicates where a scene takes place, the mood, and a writing style. The user is then tasked with writing about that topic to flex their creative muscles.

Another feature of “A+ Writing Prompt” is that it will display random phrases within a word cloud.

It is like the idea generator app described above, except that the user only has to combine words.

Such a combination may result in the creation of a new invention!

Haiku Jam mobile appThe third app that can help with improving creativity skills is called “Haiku Jam”. It helps the user write a three line poem.

Except, instead of drafting the entire poem themselves they work together with others. A user can either start a new poem or add to an existing one.

The initiator writes the first line; a second person writes the next line, and a third person writes the final line.

After writing the last line they can then choose a theme. Available themes include romance, controversy, news, among others.

The final poem is shared with the rest of the HaikuJam world to be voted on and posted onto social media. The result is a collaborative community of creatives working together.

All of these applications are perfect for busy people on the go. There will always be idle time whether it be while waiting in line at a restaurant or riding the train to work. Quick runs of these three applications can help pass the time.

Be sure to use either the sharing options or keep a pen and pad paper available to capture new ideas. It improves the chances of acting on those new ideas at a later time.
